Lynette’s Creche is a pre-school facility in Mutare, a town in Zimbabwe. It’s also a good example of a project in which people from Zimbabwe and the Netherlands cooperate to create a safe and caring place for young children.
Many years ago, Lynette came from South-Africa to Zimbabwe. In 1970 she started a pre-school facility for a small group of children, creating the opportunity for mothers to have a job and earn their living.

To safeguard the future of this place of hope and joy, we need circa 25.000 euros per year. Although a lot of people have already committed themselves to this project, we still need extra sponsoring to realize our ambitions and to fulfill the dreams of the children of Zimbabwe. So help us help Zimbabwe.

With the financial support of the Nootdorp-trust Lynette was not only able to save her pre-school but to also let it grow. There’s a lot of interest in this facility and in these dark days for the people of Zimbabwe, this interest is only growing. The existing space is no longer sufficient for the more than 150 children, so we are fully engaged in creating more space/rooms at the pre-school premises.

While the number of children grew, the financial situation of Lynette’s Creche worsened. Drought, famine and AIDS were the main causes. In 1994 a trust was created in Nootdorp, a small village in the Netherlands, to support Lynette’s Creche financially. The driving force was Nando van Maarseveen, Lynette’s brother-in-law. It was not too difficult for Nando to find friends willing to join him in this very special and dedicated project.
